PORAC, Pamp.– President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo thanked the other day Korean firms Hyundai Securities Bond Co. (HSBC) and Philuncast Development Co. (PUDC), for donating some 500 computers for the province worth P4 million. “We thank our Korean investors here in Pampanga for their donation,” the President said after she turned over the certificates of award to the mayors of the seven towns, all in the second district, at the covered court of the Porac Model Community High School in Barangay Pio here over the weekend. The town recipients were Bacolor, 60 units; Sta. Rita, 60; Sasmuan, 60; Floridablanca, 80; Guagua, 80; Porac, 70; and Lubao, 90. To date, of the country’s 6,000 public high schools, 5,000 have computers and 4,000 have Internet access. The President said access to computers and the Internet is one of her administration’s projects to make the country more globally competitive in the 21st country. Meanwhile, PUDCC chief executive officer Yoon Il Hyun said his company will donate more computers in the future.
