Some areas in the province got
some relief last week after drizzles trickled down after months of not getting
any rain due to El Nino conditions affecting the country.
“The light rains were caused by
the tail end of a cold front. It may not last though. We are in for long, dry
season,” Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services
Administration (Pagasa) forecaster Rene Paciente said.
The Pagasa said today's weather
will likely be similar to that of yesterday, because of the lingering effect of
the cold front in Luzon and Visayas, and absence of the anticyclonic weather
system, the high pressure area.
Temperature across the metropolis
dropped to 33.5 degrees Celsius Wednesday, still high but not warmer than the
35.8 degrees Celsius experienced last Saturday, the Pagasa said.
The Pagasa earlier warned of
extremely hot weather which may impact on health and agriculture in the
country.
It said the magnitude of the
effects of El Nino can be felt starting next month, when summer season peaks,
until early July.
Meanwhile, the Pagasa said
Northern Luzon and Eastern sections of Luzon
and Visayas should expect mostly cloudy skies with light rains today, while the
rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy, with isolated rainshowers
or thunderstorms.
Small seacraft operators in Luzon,
Visayas and Eastern Mindanao were advised
against moderate or strong winds which may cause moderate to rough waves.
