CITY OF SAN FERNANDO --- The Comelec en banc ruling on the motion for reconsideration filed by embattled Gov. Eddie T. Panlilio is drawing near.

This developed as the en banc has required today the camp of Lilia "Nanay Baby" Pineda to submit comments before they would finally and subsequently decide weather or not to favor the recent ruling of the 2^nd Division declaring Pineda as the rightful governor of Pampanga.

Attorney George Irwin Garcia, recount lawyer of Pineda, said that after the submission of comments, the Comelec would subsequently and finally decide on the fate of Panlilio and Pineda.

It can be noted that Pineda needs only one commissioner from the Comelec en banc to finally declare her as rightful winner in the 2007 gubernatorial race. All the three commissioners of the 2^nd Division had ruled in her favor, believing that these commissioners would not in any way contradict their earlier decision.

It can be recalled that the Comelec 2^nd Division has elevated the motion for writ of execution filed by Garcia and the motion for reconsideration of Panlilio to the Comelec en banc for final verdict.

Garcia, in a media interview, disclosed that he filed the writ of execution on his own, without the consent of his client Pineda.

Garcia said as a lawyer, he is taking full responsibility on his actions not only to prove that his client won the last 2007 gubernatorial race but to make sure that Pineda can sit as governor of Pampanga.

Garcia said he blatantly disobeyed the request of his client not to push through with the writ.

“Ang sabi po niya (Pineda), tama na po raw na napatunayan niyang nanalo siya,” Garcia said.

However, he said that as a lawyer, he has the responsibility to make sure that the truth will prevail and the wheel of justice runs until the end.
