CAMP OLIVAS -- Central Luzon police director Chief Supt. Arturo Cacdac Jr., yesterday ordered the Zambales police to bring the evidence lifted from the crime scene where vice gubernatorial candidate Willie Viloria was slain.
"I directed the Zambales police to bring all the evidence, including spent shells recovered at the crime scene, to Camp Olivas for processing," said Cacdac as he also ordered an in-depth investigation of the case.
Cacdac said a special intelligence task group had been formed to lead the investigation behind the March 7 gunslay of Viloria. He said the task group is under his deputy regional director for operations.
Viloria, who was eyeing the vice gubernatorial post of Zambales, was gunned down by two unidentified armed men in Barangay Mabanglit, Cabangan Zambales Sunday. The incident report was made available only on Monday.
Senior Supt. Rafael Santiago, acting director of the Zambales Provincial Police Office, said the victim was shot at point blank range inside his residence past 10:00 am.
The suspects, police said, barged inside the victim's residence and shot him in different parts of his body. They then went inside his room and took a black bag containing cash before fleeing.

The victim, police said, had been receiving death threats from unidentified persons since he announced his bid for the vice gubernatorial position in the May 10 polls.
Senior Supt. Marvin Bolabola, regional chief of the 3rd Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (3CIDU), personally supervised the investigation being handled separately by the Zambales Criminal Investigation and Detection Team.

Cacdac said he ordered the Zambales police to get to the bottom of the case and submit to his office the status of the investigation.
Viloria’s gun slay is the first election-related violence in Zambales.
Former Public Works and Highways Secretary Hermogenes Ebdane Jr., now candidate for governor under the Lakas ng Mangagawa Party in Zambales, was deeply saddened by the incident. He also asked the local police in Cabangan town to investigate and bring the culprits behind bars.
Ebadane will be facing incumbent Gov. Amor Deloso of the Liberal Party.
